Hindus are yet to overcome the highly communal and vicious Nuh incident, and they yet again faced another communal attack on a religious procession in Alwar, Rajasthan. Communal tensions are once again running high in Mewat after a Hindu yatra was attacked in Alwar, which also falls in the Mewat region, known for its overwhelming Islamist demography.
As per the media reports, it is said that several Hindu devotees were on the way from Ramgarh to Khatu Shyam temple. On the way, the bus driver was attacked by a group of radical Islamists, who tore the posters on the vehicle.
The Hindu devotees were on a padyatra to the renowned Khatu Shyam temple in Sikar from Alwar’s Ramgarh town. The bus bore a banner about the yatra. All of a sudden two Islamists came and started attacking the bus. In a deliberate attempt to hurt the sentiments of Hindu devotees, the accused tore posters and banners on the bus.
At the time of the attack, only the driver and a retired soldier were present on the bus. The retired soldier tried to show some resistance and even caught one of the attackers, who was later handed over to the police.
Fortunately, the matter did not escalate, because the devotees were walking 500m behind the bus. The incident could have escalated if the devotees were present on the bus. However, due to the attack by the Islamists, the situation indeed became tense in the entire region.
Following this incident, the angry devotees gathered at the Ramgarh police station and demanded action against the accused Islamists. The police have arrested both accused — Rashid and Shajis — and seized their motorcycle. The Police have registered a case and have initiated the investigation.
