The issue of Hindu exodus in Malvani was raised earlier this year by BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha. Advocate Kaushik Mhatre has highlighted in his interview with Citti Media how Hindus are being strategically evicted and depopulated in the Mumbai suburb Malvani.

“There is a pattern to this Hindu exodus. They are being threatened and intimidated to leave their houses. A concerted attempt is being made to evict them. Just like Kashmir, Kairana witnessed the exodus of Hindus, Malvani in Mumbai is also witnessing the same”, Lodha had said.

Explaining why it is termed as land jihad and isn’t just a case of encroachment, Adv. Mhatre points out that it is a calculated conspiracy with a perpetuated modus operandi to ensure Hindu exodus and Islamizing the society and/or area. The modus operandi includes buying flats at a higher price than the market price. The lucrative price offered ensures that the Muslims are able to buy the flats. They then go on to harass the non-Muslim population in various ways including filing false cases if their initial pressure tactics fail to yield the desired results.

Malvani was initially a Hindu-dominated area and today only 9 Hindu families are left here. The Malvani pattern of land jihad includes purchasing houses in Hindu-dominated areas. One of the residences is then converted into a masjid where loudspeakers blare the azaan at such high volumes that it becomes difficult for people to speak to each other in their homes.

The second strategy adopted to force Hindu families into submission is to implicate the sons and daughters in false cases such as that of drug peddling. The motive is to keep the families under constant fear of being implicated in false cases. Once the Muslims succeed in instilling such fear, the families are approached to sell their houses by the masjid people.

Adv. Mhatre then filed two RTI applications to establish the fact that the masjid had been using loudspeakers in violation of Bombay High Court orders. He further pointed out that the negligence of police officials is encouraging such illegal activities to go on unabated. Adv. Mhatre further pointed out that they have succeeded in solving the loudspeaker issue at Gaikwad Nagar.

Another strategy adopted by the Islamists is hampering the employment of the Hindus. Essentially, they pressurize Hindus into submission by harassing them physically, mentally, and financially. Adv. Kaushik also cited the example of City Centre Mall in Goregoan West and the Bony Plaza in Andheri where the same strategy was adopted by the Islamists.

“It is essential that Hindus should understand the pattern. In Chedda Complex located in Malvani, 55 flats were owned by Hindus. Subsequently, 10 flats were sold to Muslims leading to a situation where many Hindus have rented their flats to Muslims and are residing elsewhere. Only 15 flats are occupied by Hindus in this complex now”, the advocate has pointed out.

Islamists are backed by vested political interests which are clearly seen from the fact that despite illegality the Islamists are given a free hand by the authorities. In the Chedda Complex as well the Hazrat Ali Masjid was constructed obstructing the right to the way of the residents. Despite BMC’s notice to demolish the illegal structure, the Hazrat Ali Masjid still stands as it is. Adv. Kaushik Mhatre has been leading a fightback of the Hindus against the Islamists and ensuring that their exodus is arrested.

It must be mentioned here that Malvani is said to be a stronghold of 3-time Congress MLA from Malad West Assembly Constituency, Aslam Shaikh, who is also the Minister of Textile, Fisheries, and Port development in the Uddhav Thackeray government. From Kashmir to Kairana to Bharuch to Malvani, there is a concerted effort to push out Hindus.
