Kerala POCSO court sentences man to 95 years imprisonment for sexually abusing 10 year old boy

A 64-year-old man was sentenced to 95 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy in Kerala. The man lured the boy to the back of his pet shop and abused him. The matter came to light after the boy’s friends noticed him being lured by the abuser.

Hydrose, a native of  Mala Puthanchira in Thrissur was caught sexually abusing the child in 2018. He ran a pet shop in the neighbourhood and lured the boy by offering him a parrot and a cage for it. He then subjected him to “unnatural torture” and it continued for an year. He had threatened to kill the boy if he dared to reveal it to anyone. The boy told his friends about the abuse when he went to a wedding in the neighbourhood.

His friends didn’t believe him until they saw Hydrose taking him to the back of his shop to abuse him. They caught him in the act and when they questioned him Hydrose threatened them as well. However, they informed the boy’s parents following which they filed a complaint with the police.

The POCSO court in Chalakudy heard the case and sentenced Hydrose to 95 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 4,25,000, directing him to pay the whole amount to the victim.
