Karma Urao, a Schedule Tribe (ST) Vanvasi from Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, has been running from pillar to post for the last couple of months seeking justice in a land jihad case. Radical Islamists forcibly took over nine acres of land belonging to the family.
The fraud didn’t stop there, and the Islamists even got the land illegally registered under a mosque and madrasa’s name. The complicity of authorities has also come to light, highlighting the insensitivity of government authorities towards Hindus. Neither administrative officials nor Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, an ally of the anti-Hindu Congress, helped Karma Urao.
Karma Oraon, in his media interaction, highlighted that the land belonged to his ancestors and was legally granted to him. However, his father suffers from mental issues and Islamists took advantage of the same to grab their land. Furthermore, they have constructed a masjid on his ancestral land. He added that when the process became online, the Islamists used their contacts in the government to get the land illegally registered in their name.
“I met the concerned administrative authorities, including the District Commissioner. I didn’t get an audience with the Chief Minister. The government claims to work for the welfare of Adivasis, but we haven’t gotten any help from them. They only give empty promises. I’m a labourer, and since no one is providing any help, I have come to meet Babulal Marandi, who heard me out. I expect a positive outcome as Marandi Ji gave me time and heard my problem. I firmly believe he would ensure I get justice,” Karma said.
Karma highlighted how CM Hemant Soren talks of ‘Adivasi’ (ST/Vanvasi) welfare but fails to walk the talk. He further pointed out that Vanvasis was only a vote bank for the Congress ally. “They make empty promises of working for our welfare. Such landgrab issues have started only under this regime, and we have never faced any issues under the BJP government,” Karma added.
The media also spoke to BJP’s Yuva Morcha leader Arvind Kejriwal, who is helping Karma Oraon regain his ancestral land. He questioned why CM Soren, who claimed to be an ST, wasn’t helping out a fellow ST. He highlighted that the land grab was occurring right under the nose of the cabinet in the capital region of Ranchi. “It has been more than a month since they submitted the papers. However, no one is giving time to hear their problems. Islamists have grabbed their land. Where will these people go?” he questioned.
Kejriwal added that they would make every possible effort to ensure Karma Oraon gets justice. He added that BJP State Chief Babulal Marandi would write to the Chief Minister. If they fail to get a response, then they will hold a protest inside the Jharkhand Assembly premises.
