An Islamist mob violently attacked a Shobha Yatra in Mumbai’s suburb Mira Road yesterday (21 January) night around 11 pm. Police have reportedly arrested five persons in connection with the case. The assault left several Hindus, including women, injured. This incident follows the familiar pattern of pelting stones and attacking Hindu Shobha Yatras.
The media attempted to whitewash the Islamist crimes by labelling it as a ‘clash’ between two communities. According to ABP News, an ‘argument’ broke out between two ‘groups’.
“At around 11 pm yesterday, some people of the Hindu community were raising slogans in 3-4 vehicles in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road adjacent to Mumbai. After this, an argument started with some people belonging to the Muslim community. Seeing the deteriorating situation, the police vehicle immediately reached the spot and took some people into custody. The situation has been brought under control, and a flag march was conducted in the area. Naya Nagar Police has registered a case against five people, arrested them, and started investigating the matter,” DCP Jayant Bajbale informed the media.
Numerous videos on social media platform X show the Islamists rampaging and attacking Hindus while shouting ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ and ‘Nara-e-Takbeer.’ The mob is seen attacking vehicles carrying Bhagwa flags with Sri Ram. In one of the videos, a woman is seen bleeding after receiving a head injury.
Naya Nagar Police have registered a case against unidentified individuals under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 153A (promoting enmity between different religious groups). Teams have been formed to identify the miscreants using CCTV footage. According to ToI (Times of India), five miscreants have been identified and arrested.
This incident highlights yet again that Islamists are incompatible with syncretic culture and incapable of living in a civilized world. CM Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra’s Mahayuti should take strict action and strongly message that such incidents will not be tolerated.
