Hindu Dalits driven out of Muslim-majority pockets and forced to sell their homes – Aligarh, UP

Hindu Dalits are being driven out of Muslim-majority pockets in the villages near Aligarh, UP. There is alleged collusion between the Muslim perpetrators of these atrocities against Dalits and the local police, who remain silent when such cases are registered.

Though the systematic forced removal of religious groups from a given area, with the intent of making a region ethnically homogeneous, has continued for many years, there is a sudden spurt in such activities.  As a result, Hindus fearing for their lives are migrating en masse from these Muslim-dominated areas to ‘safer zones’. How long will their new areas be safe is another matter.

Residential areas and villages where Dalits live are being specifically targeted and  “This house is for sale” notices are everywhere. The residents complain that the ‘sale’ is not their idea and confirm that it the jihadi elements who are painting such messages on their compound walls. The torture does not end there. They are now being compelled to sell their houses and those who oppose the idea are brutally attacked.

Bang on the Yamuna expressway, around 60 km northwest of Aligarh lies Tappal village and a neighboring village called Nurpur. Both are Muslim majority areas. Real estate properties have skyrocketed here thanks to the expressway and this is an area that the land jihadis are especially interested in.

The complaint and the ‘for sale’ messages on houses

Almost all the Dalit families of this village under the Tappal police station area of the district have “house for sale” written on the walls of their houses which admittedly they never scribbled. Noticeably missing are such notices on Muslim homes.

The aggrieved families say that over the past few years they are being forced to flee due to escalating incidents of violence by the Muslim majority. The perpetrators indulge in casteist slurs and openly disallow temple processions to be taken out on public roads. Molestation of young girls by these criminals is also common.

Local Dalit women are specially targeted by the jihadis. The criminals indulge in racist name-calling and make vulgar comments against them. When the women come out of their houses, miscreants block their paths. They are unable to reach their fields or go to the forest.

That is why most Dalits are about to flee after selling their properties at throwaway prices! Making a quick buck out of nothing is another tool commonly utilized by both the land mafia and in this case, land jihadis.

One such victim, Sunil Jatav, said that Muslims attack them when they protest and added that the administration is also not ready to listen.

On May 26th the majority community blocked a marriage procession of Dalits in the village streets. Omi Jatav’s girls were getting married. The grooms’ marriage entourages were on their way to the brides’ house. The village mosque is on the road to that house.

When they were passing the mosque, goons led by Mustakim, Sarafu, Kalua and others attacked the guests without any provocation. They beat up guests and indulged in stone-throwing, grievously hurting many. The Dalit victims approached the Tappal police station to register complaints. The police took no action against the culprits and instead charged the victims under sections pertaining to lockdown violations!

This happened in spite of video evidence of the violence clearly showing the goons attacking the Dalits on public roads. It shows a few skullcap-wearing men approach the leading vehicle carrying the PA systems. They speak to the driver of that vehicle, a crowd forms out of nowhere and violence follows.

Locals confirmed that such attacks and stoning have been a constant feature for the past few months in the locality. Several consecutive weddings have come under similar attack from the same mosque! Such atrocities are being reported against Dalits in UP and the police are silent?

Incidentally, Nurpur village has 3 mosques, 1 madrasa, and 0 temples! The opening up of a new mosque last year along the public road hastened the intensity and frequency of such molestations, public shaming, and brutal attacks. Hindu processions both religious or celebratory are now banned from even passing near the mosque!

Traditional routes used by Hindus for centuries are no longer accessible (unless one is ready for a thrashing) to them in the heart of Bharat! What made the local administration and police remain mute and passive spectators even when such atrocities were being heaped on Hindus? If this is happening under the watchful eyes of the Yogi administration one shudders to imagine the situation under the ‘secular’ Samajwadi Party!

The village elders clearly remember the case of Bhairav Singh who had to leave the village after suffering knife wounds from his Muslim neighbors. The Dalit man was forced to flee the village back in 2006. Nobody stood up collectively for Singh’s cause and it seems, the same attitude continues till this day. Fear of the Muslim majority in the area and a lax administration has made sure that the migration still continues.

When the current issues started to appear in media, the local police assured further action after a proper investigation. What held them back till now is an open secret.
