Gujarat – Surat Police arrest Rizwan, who confesses to being paid by senior Muslim clerics for Love Jihad and conversion

Surat Police arrested a Muslim youth, Rizwan in a case of Love Jihad and interrogated him. It has come to light that he used to get money for trapping Hindu girls using Love Jihad, marrying them, and then converting them to Islam.

MD Upadhyay, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police, Surat SC, ST Cell, said that on the complaint of a Hindu girl, Rizwan Shah was arrested and interrogated. The accused said that after marrying this girl about five years ago, he was also trying to lure another Hindu girl into his love jihad trap.

On further interrogation, Rizwan spilled the beans and told the police that some people of his community encourage the youth to marry Hindu girls and apart from giving them money, they also guarantee to make arrangements for their accommodation etc. He also talked about getting a huge amount of money from senior Muslim clerics.

It is noteworthy that the accused had trapped the victim in love jihad by pretending to be a Hindu in 2018, at that time the girl was just 17 years old. Now she is forced to live with Rizwan. When she tried to leave, Rizwan used to beat her and threatened to kill her mother and brother as well.

She has been frustrated and dejected all this while and decided to report this to the Police to end her ordeal. She has lodged a complaint at Surat Pandesara police station, and the accused has been arrested and further legal action will be taken against him.
