In a case of Love Jihad reported from Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Sonbhadra, an Islamist named Eman Ahmed is alleged to have befriended a minor Hindu girl and later attempted to abduct her. The incident occurred in the Robertsganj Kotwali area.
The police took action after a complaint was filed about the kidnapping of the Class 9 student by Ahmed. The police arrested Ahmed and his father, who is accused of supporting his son’s crime and threatening the victim’s family. After interrogation, both were charged under sections 366, 376, 120B, and 506 IPC.
The incident began when a resident of the Robertsganj Kotwali area reported on 28 February that his 16-year-old daughter, a Class 9 student, had gone missing. During the investigation, it was discovered that Eman Samani Ahmed, a 28-year-old from Brahmnagar of the Kotwali area, was also missing. When asked, Eman’s father, Shamim Ahmed, casually admitted that his son had gone missing along with the girl.
Shamim threatened the girl’s father, saying he would kill him and his family if they complained. A female teacher from the Muslim community, associated with the victim’s school, was also accused of involvement.
The police registered a case against three people, including the female teacher, under sections 363, 366, and 506 IPC and started an investigation. During the investigation, a case of rape emerged. Eman Samani Ahmed and his father, Shamim Ansari, were arrested for kidnapping and raping the girl, as well as conspiring and aiding in the crime.
They were charged under relevant sections. Last reported the police were searching for the female teacher. Inspector-in-charge Satyendra Kumar Rai highlighted the role of the team led by Robertsganj outpost in-charge Ramsinghasan Sharma in apprehending the accused.
