A shocking and deeply disturbing crime has emerged from Bareilly, where a 12-year-old Hindu girl tragically ended her life after being sexually assaulted by an Islamist called Zeeshan. The incident, which initially appeared to be a case of suicide, took a grim turn after the postmortem report confirmed that the minor had been raped prior to her death.
The case occurred in the Meerganj police station area, where the girl was found hanging from a dupatta in her home on April 27. Following the postmortem findings, the victim’s father filed a complaint on April 29, prompting a detailed police investigation. Statements from the girl’s mother and younger sister became crucial in uncovering the truth behind the incident.
As per Amarujala reports, police investigations revealed that the accused, identified as 26-year-old Zeeshan, a local BDC (Block Development Committee) member, had been repeatedly exploiting the minor. He allegedly lured and harassed the girl near a pond outside the village after school hours, offering small amounts of money to silence her. Despite some villagers being aware of his behavior, no decisive intervention appears to have taken place.
According to police officials, the accused, Zeeshan, has confessed to the crime during interrogation. The psychological trauma and sustained harassment reportedly pushed the young girl into severe depression, ultimately leading her to take the extreme step. Authorities arrested Zeeshan near a weekly market and subsequently produced him in court, from where he was remanded to judicial custody.
This case has once again exposed the grave failure of community vigilance and the vulnerability of Hindu minors to abuse, even by individuals in positions of local authority. It underscores the urgent need for stronger protective mechanisms, accountability, and societal responsibility to prevent such horrific tragedies.
This horrific case is not just a crime; it is a stark reminder of how power, silence, and vulnerability can collide to destroy an innocent life. When those entrusted with authority turn into predators, the failure is not only individual but deeply societal. Justice must be swift and uncompromising, but beyond punishment, there must be accountability, awareness, and vigilance at every level to ensure that no child is ever left this unprotected again.
