Assam Police arrests Hasanur, Rafiq, Mohinur and Anuj for stealing 250 years old Radha-Krishna Murti

The Goalpara Police arrested four persons for stealing 250-year-old Murtis(idols) of Radha and Krishna from the famous Buduchar Satra of Goalpara district. The detained are Rofiq, Hasanur, Mohinur and Anuj. Still, the Police are looking for the stolen idols.

As per the received information, on the 21st of September, the theft occurred in Buduchar Satra. Thieves stole idols of Radha and Krishna and other valuable ornaments from the temple. The Murti of Radha is made of Silver, and Krishna is made of gold. As per sources, the Satra(temple) is around 300 years old, and the Murtis are over 250 years old.

During the investigation, the Police learned that the thieves were planning to sell the Murtis later. So, they hid the Murtis in the Brahmaputra river. Based on this information, the Police informed the SDRF team. But, after searching for four days, no trace of the stolen Murtis was found.

Sadness gripped the whole Goalpara district. Everywhere, people are talking about this. On the other hand, today, local Hindus in large numbers gathered in the Satra and prayed for the fast recovery of the Murtis. A woman said, “We want the original idols back at any cost.”
