Assam: Sexually exploited women in the name of healing, the Police arrested ‘Peer Baba’ Yousuf Ali

The Cachar Police have arrested a ‘Peer Baba’ for sexually exploiting a woman. The arrested has been identified as Yousuf Ali, who allegedly used to sexually exploited women in the name of healing their diseases.

Recently, a video of the ‘Peer Baba’ went viral in social media. In the video, it has been seen that the arrested person is instructing a distressed woman to undress before making sexual relations with her. After that, in presence of another person, the ‘Peer Baba’ allegedly made physical relations with the woman.

After seeing the video, the Cachar Police immediately launched an investigation and arrested the accused. Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta said, “The matter was brought to my notice yesterday and we initiated immediate action. We have detained the accused and the matter is being further investigated. Strict actions will be taken as per the law of the land.”

The incident allegedly occurred in Taranipur area under the jurisdiction of the Katigorah Police Station. The video of the distressed woman went viral and condemnation came from different quarters of the civil society.
