Assam: Dreaded robber Afzal Hossain dies in encounter in Hailakandi

In an encounter, the Cachar Police shot dead dreaded robber Afzal Hossain on Kalibari road of Hailakandi.

As per the sources, a team of Cachar Police had been in search of Afzal Hossain after the alleged abduction and rape of a woman. On Kalibari Road, the Police officials spotted a car and tried to stop that. But the car driver tried to flee by overspeeding. So, the Police opened fire at them.

The encounter resulted in the death of notorious criminal identified as Afzal Hussain Borbhuiyan. Along with him, the police also managed to arrest one of his associate identified as Erawali Laskar, sources added.

Afzal Hossain was a notorious criminal. He had previously conducted robberies in several parts of the Cachar district. Several police records and criminal cases were registered against the deceased Afzal Hussain Borbhuiyan at different police stations across the Cachar district.
