Muslim woman Alisha and her family members booked for abetting her Hindu husband’s suicide

A 20-year-old Muslim woman named Alisha, along with three family members, were implicated in a case involving the reported abetment of her Hindu husband’s suicide. The incident occurred in the Patelnagar area of Dehradun city, where a 21-year-old man, Rohit Sharma, succumbed to the effects of consuming a poisonous substance while undergoing treatment at a hospital on 2 November.

According to Sub-inspector Sanoj Kumar, Rohit’s father, Mahipal Sharma, filed a complaint against Alisha, her parents, Imtiaz and Rishma, and her maternal uncle Nadeem. “Mahipal alleged that Alisha, who resided with her family in the same neighbourhood, had ‘trapped’ his son in a love affair. He asserted that she and the other accused had been harassing Rohit, leading to his son taking the drastic step. In response to the complaint, a case of abetment of suicide under IPC section 306 has been registered against the four,” explained Kumar, emphasizing that no arrests have been made as of now.
