Minor SC Hindu girl raped by her Muslim classmate’s brother: Hiriyur, KA

In a disturbing incident revealed on April 26th, a minor Dalit Hindu girl was brutally raped by an Islamic Jihadi in Hiriyur, Karnataka. The incident occurred recently, prompting swift action from the authorities. The victim, a young girl from the Dalit community, was reportedly subjected to this heinous crime by the brother of her Muslim friend. The accused not only perpetrated this abhorrent act but also issued threats to the victim’s life, adding to the gravity of the situation.

As reported in One India, the victim had moved to her grandmother’s house in a village within the Tumkur district for her studies, where she encountered her classmate’s older brother. It is alleged that he took advantage of the situation, inappropriately touching her under the guise of offering sweets and biscuits. At the tender age of 16, while she was pursuing her SSLC, he coerced her into sexual activities when they were alone at home. This pattern continued, with him threatening her and forcing her into sexual acts. He would also send her explicit messages daily, threatening to kill her if she disclosed their encounters to anyone.

On April 26, he attempted to force himself on her again. When she resisted, he created a scene, which alerted her mother. The young woman confided in her mother about the abuse she had endured at the hands of the Muslim youth. When they sought justice, the accused’s parents responded with casteist slurs and threats of financial retribution. The delay in filing the complaint was due to the advice of the villagers to resolve the matter internally.

Promptly responding to the complaint, the authorities took decisive steps, apprehending the culprit under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (SC/ST Act).

The arrest of the accused Islamist brings a glimmer of hope for justice in what is undoubtedly a distressing ordeal for the victim and her family. However, it also raises concerns about the safety of Hindu minor girls in the locality. Following the tragic Hubballi Neha murder case, a series of Love Jihad incidents have come to light in Karnataka. Hindu girls are reportedly being continuously targeted by Islamist individuals using manipulative tactics associated with Love Jihad, and some have faced coercion and torture, leading to tragic outcomes. Hindu organizations, such as Bajrang Dal activists, have been actively involved in safeguarding the Hindu community in such instances.
