A young girl from Uttarakhand’s Sitarganj fell victim to Islamist Afzal Ahmed, who raped her and forcibly tried to convert her to Islam.

The victim shared her harrowing experience, revealing that four years ago Afzal Ahmed, pretending to be a Hindu named Rahul, initiated a romantic relationship with her when she was underage. Over time, their relationship turned into a nightmare as the accused sexually exploited her. On 27 November last year, the girl visited Afzal’s house and discovered his true identity. Shockingly, she was then held captive by Afzal and his brother Iqrar Ahmed, who pressured her to marry Afzal and convert to Islam.

In response to the victim’s complaint, the police have taken action by booking Afzal Ahmed, Iqrar Ahmed, and their parents under the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim underwent a medical examination on 1 May. Surendra Pratap Singh, the officer in charge at Sarkada police station, confirmed that efforts are underway to capture the perpetrators through ongoing raids.
