With Assad’s ouster Israel has achieved it’s objective of neutralizing one of it’s main opponents in the middle east apart from considerably weakening Iran backed militia groups Hezbollah & Hamas.
Israel and Netanyahu have also with the support of the US put Iran in a precarious position as the latter’s main ally in the region has now taken asylum in Russia leaving Iran vulnerable to further attacks from Israel with the full backing of America.
Russia which was propping up the Assad regime since 1971 did not find it appropriate to defend Assad as the opposition forces seized Aleppo and advanced on Damascus with little or no resistance. Russia meanwhile is disengaging from Syria with satellite images showing a Russian military packing it’s bags from the Hmeimim air base in the Latvian province of Syria and 2 Antonov AN 124’s with their nose cones open.
Syria under Assad had joined Iran’s “axis of resistance ,” against Israel and the US and supported Iran during the gulf War in the eighties.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was unwilling to defend Assad in the wake of no support from Assad when Hezbollah was being decimated by Israel and Iran was also attacked . Ayatollah Khamenei has been left considerably weakened and the “axis of resistance”, is in shambles.
The victory of the rebels and the subsequent transition of power in Syria has been without much bloodshed amidst the euphoria of Syrian’s who have been celebrating the ouster of Assad.
It remains to be seen how the new government in Syria deals with the illegal annexation of Golan heights by Israel which has only been ratified by America amongst all nations.
Netanyahu the main wrecker- in – Chief has emerged as the big victor in the middle east along with the US.
Netanyahu has done the unthinkable by not only bludgeoning Hamas and Hezbollah,it has also toppled the pro Russian Iranian Assad regime in Syria.
Simultaneously by attacking Iran and bringing Hezbollah on it’s knees Israel and the US have thrown open the middle east to new permutations and combinations and realignment of main players.
Russia with it’s pre occupation with Ukraine and Iran being hemmed in by the US warships and aircraft carriers positioned within striking distance have been spectators in this historic churning in the middle east.
