In a horrifying incident that has shocked the local community, the headless body of a man was recovered from a remote area in Nesarabad Upazila of Pirojpur on Saturday, March 14.
The deceased has been identified as Gopal Chandra Das (45), son of Parimal Chandra Das from Gonpara village under Kashipur Union in Barishal Sadar Upazila.
According to police, the mutilated body was discovered near a riverbank inside Mamun Mia’s brick kiln area. The body was found without a head, indicating an extremely brutal act of violence.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manjur Ahmed Siddiqui of Pirojpur visited the scene on Saturday afternoon and confirmed the recovery of the body to journalists. Family sources alleged that two individuals Md. Samrat and Md. Raju were involved in the killing. Police have already arrested Md. Samrat, while the other suspect remains at large.
Local witnesses reported that around 3:15 PM on Friday, three young men entered the brick kiln premises on a white RTR motorcycle. About 12 minutes later, at 3:27 PM, two of them were seen leaving the area in haste on the same motorcycle.
Moments later, a worker from the brick kiln went toward the riverbank and discovered the decapitated body, immediately raising an alarm. Local residents rushed to the scene and informed the police.
Investigators believe the victim may have been abducted from another location, brought to the secluded area, brutally murdered, and his headless body dumped there in an attempt to conceal the crime.
