At last, Bangladesh Govt officially admitted the fact that Hindu minorities have been facing persecution in the country. On the 10th of December, in a press conference in Dhaka, the Press Secretary of Muhammad Yunus, Shafiqul Alam said that Hindu minorities and other minorities are being targeted in the country and violence has been happening against them.
Shafiqul Alam further said that the interim government has been collecting detailed data on those incidents and has been monitoring the process of delivering justice.
He also presented some insights into the recent cases of violence against the Hindu minorities. “Till October 2024, a total of 88 cases have been filed and 70 people have been arrested in the incidents of violence against the minorities. In the coming days, many more reports will come. We will share detailed information very soon”, added Shafiqul Alam.
However, in recent times, a large part of the Bangladesh Media was spreading misinformation about the Hindu Persecution and in most cases denied the fact. They also published reports mentioning that foreign media entities have been spreading lies about the Hindu Persecution in Bangladesh. But, Shafiqul Alam admitted that the persecution of the Hindu minorities has been happening in Bangladesh.
