The Persecution of the Hindu minorities continue in the Muslim-majority Bangladesh. A fresh case has been reported from the Khagracherri district of Bangladesh where Islamists abducted and gang-raped a Janajatiya Hindu girl. After few days, the traumatized girl attempted to do suicide by consuming poison. Soon, the Police came into action and arrested four accused Islamists. As of now, two Islamists are absconding. 

The Janajatiya Hindu girl is minor(14). She is a resident of Bhaiboncherra village. On the night of 27th of June, on the night of Rath Yatra, she was abducted and gang-raped by the Islamists. She became senseless. But, her family couldn’t gather courage to file a complaint in the police station as accused Islamists were all associated with the political party BNP(Bangladesh Nationalist Party). 

The incident became public on the 12th of July when the traumatized Hindu girl, of Tripuri community, attempted suicide by consuming poison. She was rushed to the Khagracherri Sadar Hospital for treatment. Till now, she is undergoing treatment there. 

On the 16th of July, the girl’s father filed a written complaint in the Khagracherri Sadar Police Station against six accused Islamists named Emon Hossain, Enayat Hossain, Saddam Hossain, Arman Hossain, Munir Islam and Sohel Islam. 

After receiving the complaint, the police came into action and arrested four Islamists. Till now, Munir Islam and Sohel Islam are absconding. 

This barbaric incident has sparked massive outrage in the Khagracherri district. Over the last few days, the district has witnessed some protests. Sadly, the Bangladesh Army and the Police crushed some of those protests by force. 

On the 17th of July, almost 800 school students launched a protest rally in Khagracherri Sadar District against this heinous crime. The protesting students demanded strong punishment for the perpetrators.
