UP ATS’ investigation revealed that Mufakkir alias Hamidullah along with his associates, was going to carry out a major terrorist attack in UP. For this, by setting up a base in Saharanpur, he was instigating the local youth to wage jihad and implement Sharia law in the country.

UP ATS caught JMB terrorists

The terrorist organization AQIS (Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent) module and JMB (Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladesh) terrorists were planning to carry out major terrorist incidents in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Uttarakhand after Madhya Pradesh (MP). All their sleeper cells were brainwashing local youth to engage in terrorist activities by setting up bases in both states. This was revealed when the UP ATS (Uttar Pradesh) interrogated suspected JMB terrorist Mufakkir alias Hamidullah. The investigating agencies are on high alert after the revelations were made during the interrogation.

Investigation has also revealed that Mufakkir alias Hamidullah along with his associates, was going to carry out a major terrorist attack in UP. They were setting up a base in Saharanpur and instigating the local youth to wage jihad and implement Sharia law in the country. Central investigating agencies became aware of their intentions following the arrest of Mufakkir and his associates by the MP. After this case was handed over to NIA (National Investigation Agency), Mufakkir was arrested along with his associate, and his whereabouts in Saharanpur were revealed. At the same time, last January, UP ATS arrested suspected JMB terrorist Azharuddin from Lucknow, who was brainwashing the youth like Mufakkir.

UP ATS investigation revealed that all of them had infiltrated from the Bangladesh border and were making a network in UP-Uttarakhand by setting up a base in Saharanpur. Azharuddin was associated with Bangladeshi terrorists Mudassir, Abu Talha, Ehsaan, Mufakkir and was brainwashing the youth through Jihadi literature and inflammatory videos to fulfill the designs of Al Qaeda Indian Subcontinent and JMB. Investigation further revealed that Mufakkir had married a woman in Saharanpur, but this is yet to be confirmed.

More than a hundred sleeper cells

It has come to light that more than a hundred sleeper cells of JMB are active in Saharanpur and Uttarakhand. Now the investigating agencies are trying to nab the entire network. Apart from brainwashing the youth, their aim is also to collect ammunition. UP ATS has arrested about two dozen terrorists associated with this network in the last five years. NIA has also arrested several members of this module for conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks in Madhya Pradesh.
