Intifada: University of Kerala Youth Festival 2024 logo released

The University of Kerala, a state-run public university in Thiruvananthapuram, has named its Kalotsav (arts festival) ‘Intifada’. Intifada is the name of jihad waged by Palestinian Islamic terrorists against Israel. This includes terrorism and violence. The merits of naming a cultural event where art and music go hand in hand are being questioned.

Intifada is the name used to describe the armed uprisings and terrorist attacks carried out by Palestinian terrorists against Israel at various times. The Intifada is an attempt by radical Islamists to eliminate the Israelis. It means to eliminate.

Like the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) earlier, their student movement, the Students Federation of India (SFI), is also using every opportunity to pander to the minorities. Many Keralite Muslims are Hamas and ISIS sympathisers who support Islamist terrorists. But now it is suspected that there is a situation where the extremists in the minority are holding the reins of SFI.

Doubts arose within the organisation about how such a decision was taken without sufficient historical awareness. The logo design is characterised not by the elegance of art but by intense conflict.

The University of Kerala arts festival is scheduled for 7 March to 11. The poster is labelled ‘Art to Defend Against Invasion – Intifada’. Protests arose after Save Palestine slogans were raised at the Kerala University Youth Festival logo release. In a ceremony held at the university headquarters, porters Hari and Sindhu were given the registrar and the logo was released.

SFI cannot provide a definitive answer to the question of whom this name was given to please. Intifada is not a non-violent struggle like Gandhiji did in the past. Intifada also calls for terrorism and bombings to kill Israelis.

University of Kerala Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mohanan Kunnummal admitted that the incident has become controversial. He claimed he would seek an explanation from the university registrar. Kunnummal informed reporters that further action would be taken if necessary after he received the explanation.

VC Kunnummal lamented that he had not been informed about the Kalotsavam. The university union took the decision. In November, the student union elections in colleges under the University of Kerala saw SFI winning in 56 of the 70 colleges.

The arts festival is not war or riot. Kalotsavam needs artistic Kerala names. VC Kunnummal said he does not know how the Arabic name came about.

The ‘First Intifada’ started on 9 December 1987 and lasted six years. 179 Israelis were killed. 3100 Israelis were injured. This includes 1700 ordinary Israeli citizens. An estimated 1,300 Palestinians lost their lives, 1,20,000 were wounded, and six lakh were imprisoned.

The Palestinians embarked on a second ‘Al Aqsa’ intifada from 2000 to 2005. They mainly targeted Israeli civilians with stones, guns and rocket attacks. The most prominent feature of the second intifada was the suicide bombings. Thousands lost their lives in the conflicts.

There is said to be a third intifada going on in Israel right now. This time around, approximately thirty thousand Palestinians have lost their lives in Israel’s conflict with terrorists in Gaza, which Hamas governs. 70,000-odd people have been injured since the conflict began on 7 October.

Israel alleges it was the bloodiest massacre of Jews since the holocaust after Hamas terrorists carried out attacks on 7 October. Hamas slaughtered babies, raped women, burned whole families alive and took hundreds of innocent civilians hostage. Since 7 October, more than 1,200 Israelis have been killed. Terrorists are still holding 134 Jewish men, women, and children in captivity.

The weaponisation of sexual violence shocked the world. While Bharat condemned the violence, many so-called progressive Western countries remained silent. Most Hamas leaders have allegedly amassed huge fortunes and live comfortably in Qatar.

Earlier this month, HinduPost reported how the Kerala Government presented the Media Person of the Year Award to Al Jazeera Channel’s Gaza Bureau Chief, Wael Al-Dahdouh. Al Jazeera, which the Qatari government runs, is one of the biggest anti-Bharat channels in the world. Al Jazeera channel’s radical links are not so secret.

Are Kerala communists ignorant or in denial?

Iraqi ‘revolutionary’ communists admit that from late 1958, the Baath Party in Iraq, with the help of the police, organised systematic murder of their cadre. A group of Baath Party workers attempted, but failed, to kill General Qasim in October 1959. Saddam Hussein was the gang’s leader and eventually became the Party’s leader.

Communist party members were shot in the streets and herded into concentration camps, where they were tortured to death or executed. The Baathists gradually eliminated the communists from Iraq. Non remained by late 1963.

Green communists in Kerala have the option of jumping to other political outfits. Many are allegedly communists by day and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) workers at night. SDPI is the political wing of the Popular Front of India (PFI), the banned terror outfit. It is a luxury that non-Muslim communists like Hari and Sindhu do not enjoy.
