Hindu teacher, Rajni Bala, shot dead by terrorists in Kashmir

Terrorists fired upon and shot dead a Hindu school teacher at Gopalpora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said on Tuesday. The teacher was identified as Rajni Bala (36), wife of Raj Kumar of Samba district in Jammu.

According to the details, the terrorists fired at the school teacher, injuring her critically. She was moved to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The J&K Police tweeted: “Injured lady teacher, a Hindu and resident of Samba (Jammu division) succumbed to her injuries.

“Terrorists involved in this gruesome terror crime will be soon identified and neutralised.” The area has been cordoned off. Additional forces have reached the spot and an operation has been started to nab the attackers.

This is the second killing of a Kashmiri Pandit in the month of May. On May 12, government employee Rahul Bhat was shot dead inside the tehsildar’s office in Chadoora tehsil of Budgam district. He had got the job of a clerk under the special employment package for migrants in 2010-11.

Around a week ago, Amreen Bhat, a 35-year-old social media influencer, was shot dead by terrorists in the Budgam district and her 10-year-old nephew left injured.

This is the seventh targeted killing in Kashmir in the month. While three of the victims were off-duty policeman, four were civilians.

Instead of condemning the Islamic jihad that seeks to establish a theocratic Muslim state in J&K, Peoples Democratic Party supremo Mehbooba Mufti said that such targeted civilian killings will ‘play into the vicious anti muslim narrative spun by BJP’.
