“Will deport those who came to Manipur after 1961, says N Biren Singh”, NE Now, February 13, 2024:

“Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday said that irrespective of caste or community, anyone coming into the state after 1961 will be identified and deported.

The Chief Minister’s statement marks taking over 12,000 refugees from Myanmar in different districts in the state at present.

Moreover, illegal immigrants belonging to the Chin Kuki tribes from neighboring countries are also residing without proper documents in the state.

In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Biren Singh said that anyone coming into the state from other parts of the world after 1961 which is the base year for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system will be identified and deported…..”
