Today, on Saturday, during elections in Jhargram, TMC-backed goons roamed freely in several places. They even attacked BJP candidate Pranat Tudu.
BJP sources said that many security personnel of BJP candidate Pranat Tudu suffered injuries in the attack.
Pranat Tudu on his way to Garbeta after receiving reports that TMC-backed goons prevented BJP agents from entering the polling booth.
“All of a sudden, TMC goons who had blocked the road started hurling bricks at my car. When my security personnel tried to intervene, they were injured. Two CISF jawans accompanying me received head injuries and had to be hospitalised.”
Besides Pranat Tudu, BJP candidates Hiranmay Chatterjee and Agnimitra Paul were also attacked. TMC goons blocked their convoys and hurled stones and bricks at them.
BJP candidate from Ghatal, Hiranmay Chatterjee, alleged that in the presence of the police and central forces, TMC goons attacked his convoy. He said, “The Police were mere spectators. The Police illegally stopped me from entering several areas.”
