Assam: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleges a BJP attack on his vehicle during ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that his vehicle was attacked during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Jamugurihat in Assam’s Sonitpur district.

Jairam Ramesh also shared a video of the alleged incident on social media and stated that his vehicle was attacked by members of the BJP.

He further accused that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is behind the incident.

In the video clip shared by some Congress leaders, it has been seen that a car is being blocked by some people holding BJP flags.

Taking to social media platform X, Jairam Ramesh wrote, “My vehicle was attacked a few minutes ago at Jumugurihat, Sunitpur, by an unruly BJP crowd who also tore off the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stickers from the windshield. They threw water and shouted anti-BJNY slogans. But, we kept our composure, waved to the hooligans and sped away. This undoubtedly the Assam CM @himantabiswa’s doing. We are not intimidated and will soldier on.”

Meanwhile, right after the incident, Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered the Assam DGP to register a case and enquire into the allegations levelled by Jairam Ramesh.

However, top-level congress leaders claimed they had a very successful Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam. But the situation on the ground is quite different. In almost every part of Assam, the Yatra has been facing protests. Earlier today, in an incident, Bhupen Borah is hackled by locals. Also, when the Yatra reached Rupahighat, large numbers of people, the minority showed protest in front of Rahul Gandhi. They gave slogans like ‘Rahul Gandhi, go back’. The Police force deployed there managed the crowd.
