Earlier today, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) released its first list of candidates from Assam for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The list includes many notable names of the Assam BJP.

Among 14 MP seats of the state of Assam, the BJP leadership has announced names of candidates for 11 seats, leaving three seats for allies.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, ally Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) is set to contest from Dhubri and Barpeta seats. Another ally, the United People’s Party Liberal is going to contest from the Kokrajhar seat. 

While addressing the press in Guwahati, Bhavesh Kalita said, “We are eagerly awaiting the election dates to be announced. We are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts. Also, we have set up a management committee to look after the election affairs of the party.”

Kalita also clarified that the announced names are only drafts and are sent to the party’s central leadership for final decision. He said, “We have sent the draft list of candidates to the central leadership, and we hope they will make a final call soon.”
