Radical Islamist outfit, the Popular Front of India (PFI) is being promoted by all ‘secular’ parties that vehemently oppose the BJP. The controversial outfit has now won support from Islamist-enthusiast Mamata Banerjee-led TMC in West Bengal.
The Print reported that the Popular Front of India had organised its annual ‘unity rally’ in the Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district of West Bengal on Thursday, February 17. TMC MLA from Farakka, Manirul Islam was seen representing the ruling Trinamool Congress in this rally and was seen openly sharing the stage with members of the PFI.
As the rally progressed, Mohamed Shakif, the PFI National Secretary was seen addressing the audience and slandering the RSS in the most vicious terms. Shakif called the RSS “cancer” and accused it of ‘creating a divide between the Hindus and the Muslims’ of Bharat and “creating the hijab drama”. His speech was met with loud sloganeering of Allah-hu-Akbar and PFI Zindabad.
Manirul Islam, standing shoulder to shoulder with the PFI National Secretary showered him with praises for gathering overwhelming support of Muslims from Murshidabad. TMC’s appeasement of radical Islamists like PFI is no surprise given its past history of stooping to any level to cultivate the Muslim votebank that is controlled by such radicals.
And this is not the first time TMC leaders have extended their support to these Islamist hardliners. Murshidabad has played into the hands of the PFI earlier as well. In 2020, TMC MP Abu Taher Khan had sparked a massive outrage when PFI posters supporting the anti-CAA-NRC protests flashing his name were circulated in the district. Later, seeing the backlash, Taher Khan threatened to go to the police over the controversy and the PFI retracted.
Congress is also not shying away from employing the same technique of wooing Islamists to secure power in Rajasthan. Knowing that Hindus have grown tired of the same old Congress misgovernance, corruption and deteriorating law & order, Gehlot has locked into the oldest trick in the ‘secular’ playbook.
The Ashok Gehlot government had permitted PFI to celebrate its annual ‘PFI Day’ by taking out its ‘Unity March’ in Rajasthan’s Kota. “Both ISIS and RSS have radical ideologies,” declared Anees Ahmed, National Secretary of PFI, during this march.
Despite the National Investigation Agency’s designating the PFI as a radical hate outfit, these pseudo-secular, anti-Hindu political parties have hosted the PFI. This shows their utter disregard for Hindus, and indeed all right-thinking citizens.
PFI’s links have surfaced in connection to numerous communal riots, attacks on police and other violent incidents, including the ongoing hijab row. It is known as an extremists organization that is accused of having planned and executed the murders of numerous Hindus in Kerala. PFI has sprouted from the same stock of SIMI (a banned terror outfit) cadre that, under the name Indian Mujahideen, were recently convicted for the 2008 Ahmedabad bombings that killed 56 citizens and left around 200 severely injured after a series of 21 bomb blasts on July 26, 2008.
Despite the sinister nature and extremist activities of the PFI, the Congress and the TMC deemed it fit to give them a stage to hold demonstrations and encourage their influence in the two border-states ruled by them. This only demonstrates that in their desperate greed for power, contempt for Hindus and hate for BJP, these political parties are furthering the Islamist agenda in Bharat. That they are in power in states that share borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh only puts the safety and security of the entire country at risk.
