Violence against BJP cadre continues unabated in Telangana as TRS MLA’s aide brutally attacks BJP lawyer

A female advocate of Telangana BJP has been brutally assaulted by the aide of the ruling Telangana Rashtriya Samiti(TRS) MLA. The man attacked her in the court premises as she came out from the courtroom after appearing as counsel for a BJP leader in a case against the MLA. BJP leaders condemned the act and said that unable to bear the fact that BJP’s popularity is growing in the state, TRS members are resorting to violence.

Prasanna Naidu, the convenor of BJP’s legal wing in Medchal, Telangana was attacked by Srinivas Yadav, aide of Malkajgiri MLA Hanumantha Rao on February 23. She was confronted by Yadav as she came out of the courtroom after appearing for BJP in the Neredmet case. Yadav reportedly beat her with chappals. Prasanna is said to have beaten him in return and both have filed complaints against each other.

While Prasanna sustained severe injuries on her face and head, Yadav claimed to have a rise in BP and was admitted in a hospital. Prasanna had contested in the Greater Hyderabad Corporation polls last year. She has been very critical of Srinivas Yadav on social media which is said to have irked him. In January, BJP corporator Srivani Kumar was booked by Neredmet police for allegedly sharing official documents of a sub judice matter in WhatsApp.

One Maniratnam had lodged a complaint in the Neredmet police station alleging that Srivani had shared the official documents in local WhatsApp groups and made adverse comments about the police. MLA Hanumantha Rao and his associates have been harassing BJP cadre for a longtime. last year during the Independence day celebrations in GHMC office, the MLA had abused BJP corporator Vurapalli Sravan when he had an argument with the former about development projects. he had posted a video threatening to murder him. MLA’s supporters had attacked Sravan and other BJP cadre as a result of which he sustained a laceration on his leg.

Sravan had lodged a complaint against MLA Hanumantha Rao in the Neredmet police station. It is about this case that Srivani had made remarks in social media and Prasanna is appearing for in the Malkagiri court. After the incident during Independence Day celebrations, women cadre of BJP who went to Hanumantha Rao’s house to protest against his abusive remarks on Telangana BJP Preseident Bandi Sanjay Kumar were also abused by the MLA. He was booked under relevant sections of IPC for outraging a woman’s modesty and the SC ST atrocities Act.

In 2019, the same MLA had used his influence to arrest a youth wing leader of BJP. Sai Prasad, the youth wing leader had shared videos exposing land encroachment by the MLA and raised questions about his educational qualifications. He was booked under the scrapped section 66A and section 120B of the IT Act under the MLA’s pressure. Sai Sravan had told TNM that the MLA’s son and his were present in the police station when he was arrested and threatened him saying that they had issued a “supari” (contract killing) against him.

Considering the grave nature of the situation BJP leader Kishan Reddy had written to the MHA seeking NIA probe into MLA Hanumantha Rao’s actions and Neredmet Police officer A Narasimha Chary who arrested Sravan on fake charges. The situation seems to have only worsened as more BJP cadre, including women are attacked by TRS goons.
