Siliguri: “Criminal has no religion”, Muslims said in a rally after the murder of minor Hindu girl

Siliguri has seen several protests after the brutal killing of a minor Hindu girl. The Police already arrested a Muslim youth named Muhammad Abbas in this case. Anger still prevails among the locals.

Amid this, local Muslims let out a protest rally today. Members of Jama Masjid and local Muslims today let out a rally in Matigara. Muslims demanded justice for the murdered minor girl. They also demanded intense punishment for the accused, Muhammad Abbas.

A Muslim in the rally said, “Muhammad Abbas is a criminal. And a criminal has no religion. That’s why we are demanding rigorous punishment for the accused. We don’t support this.”

Notably, on the 20th of August, the dead body of a minor Hindu girl was recovered from an abandoned house in Matigara. This incident rocked Matigara and adjacent Siliguri with several protests. Top police officials monitored the investigation and arrested a Muslim youth named Muhammad Abbas(22) the next day. In the primary research, it is known that the accused, Muhammad Abbas tried to rape the girl. But the girl resisted. So, Muhammad Abbas murdered the girl by smashing her head.
