On November 23, during the Khatu Sham Yatra in Punjab’s Patiala district, particularly in the Nabha region, Hindu women encountered mistreatment from a group of children within the Muslim community. These children, reportedly affiliated with a shop owned by a member of the Muslim community, allegedly threw toilet cleaner on the participating women, resulting in severe allergies among the victims.
As per reports, the Hindu community in Nabha had organized a Shobha Yatra to observe the Khatu Sham Janmotsav. Hundreds of Hindus enthusiastically participated in the procession to celebrate the occasion in Nabha.
However, when the rally reached the Sadar Bazar area, some women participants faced mistreatment from Muslim children. These children allegedly gathered toilet cleaner from a nearby restroom and threw it at the women, causing rashes and allergic reactions among the affected individuals.
In response to the incident, the Nabha Police swiftly took action and filed a formal complaint. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Nabha, as revealed in a video released by the Patiala Police, acknowledged the occurrence and identified the children involved as belonging to the Muslim community.
In the video statement, the SHO stated, “The rally was peacefully passing through the Sadar Bazar area. Some children from the Muslim community threw toilet cleaner at the women from the rally. These children threw the cleaner from a shop owned by a Muslim individual, who is reportedly their relative. The women have developed severe allergies. It’s important not to spread rumours. An investigation is underway in this case.”
He emphasized the need for the public to promptly inform the police about such incidents, urged everyone to maintain peace, and discouraged the spread of any unfounded rumours.
