Assam: Muslim girl fed beef to Hindu classmate; parents of the former arrested

In strange news from Assam, a Muslim student carried beef in her tiffin box and fed it to her Hindu classmate. The Hindu girl had no idea she was being fed beef and realized so only after consuming the meat. The Muslim student who fed her Hindu classmate beef is a student of class 10 of Dhupdhara’s Sishu Sankradeb Vidya Niketan in Assam’s Goalpara.

Parents of the Muslim student have been arrested for sending beef in tiffin. News reporter Niharika Hazarika reports that Members of the Rashtriya Hindu have filed a complaint with the Dhupdhara police station and sought immediate action.

While Muslims in Bharat have the freedom of consuming meat of their choice, it is an established fact that Hindus do not eat beef as the cow is sacred to Hindu religious sentiments. In a secular country, it is only given that people from different faith respect the sentiments of others. However, the Muslim student and her parents didn’t regard the Hindu classmates’ sentiments and religious beliefs.

The Muslim family must have known that students sit together and often share their lunch. Yet, they packed beef for their ward. Again, the Muslim student didn’t tell her Hindu classmate that the food item she was feeding her was beef. Upon consuming the meat, the Hindu girl realized from its peculiar taste she had consumed beef.

Again, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the Goalpara district. In May this year, the Muslim headmistress of the Hurkachungi Middle English School, 56-year-old Dalima Nessa, was arrested for distributing beef among her staff members without their knowledge or consent. She timed this action purposely during the annual Gunotsav evaluation of the school when an external official evaluates the school.

The headmistress had brought the beef cooked at home and asked the mid-day meal workers to distribute it with lunch. Subsequently, the school committee learned of the matter and filed a complaint at the local police station. Nessa was booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 153A for promoting enmity between different religions and 295A for her deliberate act to outrage religious feelings. She was arrested on May 17, produced before a local court, and sent to judicial custody.

Locals say this area has been infested by illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators and has seen a consistent shift in its demography. At times Muslim school students feed their Hindu classmates beef without informing them, and at times the school headmistress distributes beef to staff members. Hence, this incident cannot be dismissed as an isolated incident by a minor.

People suspect it to be a well-planned strategy adopted by Islamists to force-feed beef to Hindus in the guise of “sharing food.” This trend thus leaves Hindus in a severe dilemma: Should the Hindus, be it a child in an educational institution or an adult at work, share food with Islamists? The dread of them being fed beef intentionally and stealthily lurks in the Hindu minds.

  1. This is a deliberate & well-planned plot designed to intensify hate among the Hindus and Muslims. Extremely derogative.
