Ex-teacher in a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) school in Jammu, Asif Praveen, has been arrested by police after he attempted to rape a minor girl student, Hindi daily Dainik Jagran has reported.
The accused was appointed as a temporary teacher in KV Jindrah in Jammu’s outlying Jhajjar Kotli area and his term had ended in March. He lived in a rented house in the same locality as the girl student. One night when the girl’s father was out on some work and her mother had gone to the temple, the accused called her to his house under pretext of studies.
The moment the girl entered his house, he bolted the door and molested her. The girl somehow managed to escape and ran back home and informed the neighbours. The accused, who is a resident of Mau, UP was caught from Jammu railway station where he was trying to board a train back to his hometown.
According to Jammu based newspaper Daily Excelsior, the accused teacher’s name is Mohammad Arif, son of Shakeel Ahmad of Uttar Pradesh. A case under FIR Number 29/18 under Section 354 RPC (Ranbir Penal Code, as J&K doesn’t follow the Indian Penal Code) was registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and accused has been arrested.
