Madrasa students pelt stones on Hindu women en route to Kuan Pujan: Nuh, Haryana

In Haryana’s Nuh, a disturbing incident unfolded on the night of 16 November as a group of Hindu devotees, primarily women, faced an attack by Madrasa students while en route to the Kuan Pujan ritual. The assailants were children from a nearby madrasa who reportedly threw stones at the women participating in the ritual. The incident resulted in injuries to more than six women, with additional reports suggesting that children were also among the injured.

Upon receiving a complaint, the local police intervened, urging both communities to maintain peace. Superintendent of Police, Narendra Singh Bijarniya, stated that an FIR is being filed, and the maulvi of the madrasa has been summoned for questioning. Police deployment has been increased around the Jama Masjid in Nuh to prevent any further escalation of tension.

The targeted ritual, Kuan Pujan, was being observed by local women for the son of a resident named Ram Avatar. The attack occurred as the women were on their way to Kailash Mandir around 8.30 pm. Stones were initially pelted at them by madrasa students, and a second attack occurred when the women were returning from the temple.

Prompt police intervention prevented further escalation, but tensions remained high. Some residents expressed anger with the police administration, raising slogans against them. Two to three individuals have reportedly been detained, and others have been questioned. The injured women were admitted to Nuh CHC for medical treatment.

This incident follows previous violence in Nuh during the Jalabhishek Yatra organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on July 31st. During that event, six people were killed. The yatra, led by Hindus in the Muslim-dominated Nuh, faced attacks involving stone pelting, gunfire, and vandalism from the Muslim community, prompting thousands of women and children to seek shelter in the Nalhar temple. Investigations revealed premeditated plans for violence, with the aim of causing significant harm when the yatra reached Bhadas.
