Uttarakhand is witnessing an unprecedented resistance against the Love Jihad, Illegal conversion, and Demographic changes for quite sometime. Amid such a situation, another case of Love Jihad has come into the fore. A 22-year-old Muslim boy and his father have been arrested for allegedly trying to convert a young woman to Islam in Pauri district.
As per the Srinagar Circle Officer Shyam Dutt Nautiyal, Mujeeb Khan (22) and his father Babu Khan (45) were arrested on Wednesday evening from Rishikesh Railway Station. It is being said that the accused Mujeeb Khan, in complicity with with his father Babu Khan (25), forced the victim to wear a hijab and offer namaz besides giving an assurance of marrying her.
The moment this news unearthed, the local people and businessmen of Srinagar created ruckus by reaching Kotwali police station. Local people as well as traders and BJP workers were also present at the scene and requested the Police to take stern action. However, before the Police could have nab the accused, they fled.
It is being informed to the Police that Victim’s Muslim female friend, her brother and father attempted to convert her and also forced her to get married with Mujeeb. The father son duo were on the run but were nabbed by the police from Rishikesh railway station.
Police has confirmed that the accused are residents of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh. A case under the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion Act, 2018, was registered against the father-son duo following the complaint filed by the woman’s father, Nautiyal said.
The local people said that efforts are being made to disturb the calm litigants of the Uttarakhand. People are agitated due to such targeted incidents committed by the Islamists, which led to a state-wide movement against the Muslims.
