Gujarat: Muslims attack a Hindu sculptor Kishan Rathod’s family in Rajkot, vandalise Ganpati murtis

In a shocking incident, a Hindu family has been attacked by Muslim youths on Saturday, 26 August 2023. It is being said that the victim’s family was attacked because they were making murtis of Sri Ganesh for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. A complaint was filed at the Rajkot taluka police station, and all three accused have been arrested.

As per the information, the victim Kishan Rathod, hailing from Rajasthan and residing in Rajkot, earns his livelihood by crafting Ganpati murtis. He lodged a police complaint, leading to the subsequent registration of the FIR.

Kishan Rathod and his family live in a rented accommodation next to the Gurukripa factory in Shaktinagar on Dholra Road in Rajkot. The family has been living here for more than three months and the owner of this place is a person named Irfan. The family earns its livelihood by making Ganpati murtis.

On 26th August 2023, at around 10 PM, while Kishan was painting murtis on the premises of Irfan’s factory, the three Muslim youth entered there and began shouting and abusing at him; they also vandalizes the murtis.

As the situation worsened, Kishan reached out to Naseemben who happens to be the sister-in-law of Irfan. Upon Naseemben’s arrival, she too faced verbal abuse from Amin and his accomplices. These people also damaged her vehicle. The situation became so bad that Kishan was left with no option except to call the Police. Fortunately, the responding team promptly arrived on the scene. Upon seeing the police’s arrival, the Muslim youth fled.

The police have registered a case under the following sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC): 447; 294(b); 323; 295; 427; and 114; and Motor Vehicles Act (MVA). Subsequently, a thorough investigation was conducted, which led to the quick arrest of the three accused persons within a short period of time.

The attackers have been identified as Amin Habib Sama, Rafiq Ismail Mansuri, and Sameer Yusuf Shahmadar.
