Islamist radicals attacked another Hindu youth in Karnataka, this time over a social media post regarding the 18th-century tyrant Tipu Sultan. On February 19th, Prakash Lonare had replied with a ‘laughing emoji’ to a post dedicated to Tipu which triggered the assault.
The incident happened at Bagalkote where an enraged mob of around 15-20 Islamists picked up an argument and attacked the victim with sharp weapons. A video shared by journalist Chiru Bhat showed an injured Prakash on his hospital bed, with wounds on his hands and thighs. Interestingly, 8 districts including Bagalkote were under section 144 at the time and yet the crowd assembled undeterred.
Local BJP MLA Veeranna Charantimatha and Rashtriya Hindu Sena Chief Pramod Mutalik visited Prakash in hospital, on Sunday. Bagalkote police have registered a case against the accused but no arrests have been recorded yet.

Tipu and his equally religious fanatic father Hyder Ali are hated by Hindus but are revered by many Islamists in present-day Karnataka and Kerala. Tipu and his father killed tens of thousands of Hindu warriors, converted even more to Islam, destroyed and looted our temples, imposed special taxes on non-Muslims and their barbarian army indulged in rape and genocide of Hindus all over Malabar and Mysore.
Congress party top brass who are known fans of the tyrant, hail him as a ‘freedom fighter’ and had a habit of conducting Tipu Jayanti on his birthday. While in power, they were catering to blatant minority appeasement.
Tipu’s legacy is such that even radical Islamists do not name their children Tipu and the tradition has lasted for quite some time now. Keralite Hindus especially the Nairs who bore the brunt of the fanatic’s invasions name their dogs ‘Tipu.’
