NIA reveals Madrasa students in Jhansi and Kanpur trained in train derailment techniques

In a deeply troubling revelation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) have uncovered a conspiracy involving madrasa students being trained to derail trains in the Jhansi and Kanpur regions. Based on the reports from the Organizer, the investigation has revealed alarming evidence of radicalisation and explicit instructions being provided to youths to execute such acts, underscoring a growing threat to public safety.

Radicalisation and training in Madrasas

According to the probe, certain madrasas are allegedly involved in radicalising students and encouraging them to participate in anti-national activities. The investigation uncovered explicit training on methods to derail trains, including the use of objects like cylinders and logs to disrupt rail operations. Evidence suggests that these instructions were disseminated through online platforms, with several incriminating videos recovered during raids.

The videos reportedly show radical elements not only inciting youths to target trains but also detailing precise methods for carrying out derailment plans. A key suspect in the case, Islamist Mufti Khalid Nadvi, a madrasa teacher, has been detained for interrogation.

Mob attacks investigation team during raid

On Thursday, NIA and ATS teams conducted a raid at Mufti Khalid Nadvi’s residence. Several electronic devices, including a laptop and mobile phone, were seized, which authorities believe may contain evidence of terrorist links and foreign funding. Nadvi was questioned and taken into custody.

However, as the investigative team was transporting Nadvi, a large mob, reportedly mobilised through announcements made from a local mosque, attacked the convoy and forcibly freed the suspect. The mob, which included a significant number of women, created chaos and disrupted the operation.

Later, the police managed to re-arrest Nadvi, who remains a key person of interest in the ongoing investigation.

In response to the mob attack, the police have registered cases against approximately 100 individuals involved in the assault on the investigative team and the forced release of Nadvi. Raids are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for the violent incident.

Previous train derailment attempts

Over the past three months, there have been multiple attempts to derail trains in the Jhansi and Kanpur regions. These incidents include targeted attacks on trains like the Sabarmati Express, Kalindi Express, and Vande Bharat Express. In several cases, vigilant railway workers and locals averted potential disasters by identifying and removing dangerous objects from the tracks in time.

The findings from the NIA and ATS investigations highlight a disturbing trend of radical activities threatening public safety and national security. With madrasa students reportedly being drawn into such plots, the issue demands urgent attention and stringent measures to prevent further radicalisation and ensure the safety of the nation’s railway network.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case, vowing to bring those responsible to justice and prevent such conspiracies from endangering innocent lives. A series of train derailment attempts across India has raised serious concerns about coordinated threats to the nation’s railway network. Hindu Post recently reported multiple incidents, pointing to a disturbing trend of deliberate sabotage. Questions are being raised about the alleged involvement of certain madrasas in training individuals for such anti-national activities.

This alarming pattern of attacks begs urgent answers: Are madrasas being used as hubs to instill radical ideologies among students? Who are the anti-national elements behind these acts, and what might their next targets be? If such threats are not addressed with firm measures, they could jeopardize not only the safety of the railways but also the lives of countless passengers who rely on this transport system.
