“The Self seeing the Self

“When the mind grows quiet, the one who knows becomes the only light left to see.”

Bhagavad Gītā Verse 6.20

यत्रोपरमते चित्तं निरुद्धं योगसेवया ।
यत्र चैवात्मनात्मानं पश्यन्नात्मनि तुष्यति ॥

yatrōparamatē cittaṁ niruddhaṁ yōgasēvayā |

yatra caivātmanātmānaṁ paśyannātmani tuṣyati ||

(When the mind becomes quiet and steady through the practice of meditation, one sees the Ātman (the eternal witnessing Self) by the Ātman (the eternal witnessing Self), and then rests in contentment in the Ātman (the eternal witnessing Self) alone.)

Prologue

Before we speak about meditation, let us stay with something simple. You are aware right now. You know you are reading these words. You can also notice that you know. This is a small shift. It feels quiet. It does not need effort. It is already here, like a gentle light in the background.”
