“Uttarakhand’s religious leaders and temple caretakers have asked the State government to prohibit the entry of non-Hindus in the Char Dham temples of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

These shrines, situated at heights of over 3,000 metres above sea level, are the backbone of the State’s economy and are visited by millions of people from across India every year.

The demand comes weeks after the Ganga Sabha, a trust that manages the religious affairs of the Ganga ghats in Haridwar, demanded a ban on the entry of non-Hindus for the 2027 Kumbh Mela……”
