The tragic story of lightening fast conversion of Arunachal Pradesh to Christianity

The Himalayas are Taken!

The Tragic Story of Lightening Fast Conversion of Arunachal Pradesh to Christianity. Arunachal is the greatest eastern Himalayan state of India and it is taken by Christianity.

This is perhaps one of the most tragic stories in the annals of Hindu dharma and India in modern times, in which a 100% Hindu/ Buddhist/ pagan state became near Christian majority in a span of just 40 years, starting from 1970 only.

Official figures say Christianity is the largest religious group with 32% adherents now but Christian organizations claims that as much as 55% of people of Arunachal have been converted to Christianity.

In 1971, the percentage of Christians in the state was less than 1% – only 0.79%. It was then that it was brought under civil administration and then almost overnight it was converted to Christianity with initial growth rates as high as 600% in some districts like East Kameng.

In 1981 Christian population suddenly jumped to around 5%, having a 600% growth rate. In 1991, their share doubled to become 10% and by 2001 it had become 18.72%, which is 1/5th of the state. In just twenty years, they had become 20% from 0%.

If that is not a precipitating decline of dharmic/ pagan sects and a devastating increase of an anti-natural religion like Christianity, in a eco-sensitive state like Arunachal, then I do not know what it is. Census data of 2021 is not out, but here is what Wikipedia says.

10 out of total 26 districts of Arunachal Pradesh have now Christians as the religious group with Christians forming absolute majority in 4 of them and 48% in 6 of them where they are already the largest group. They are around 25% in 7 other districts.

Longding is a district in lower Arunachal and it shocks me to even contemplate that it has been almost 100% converted to Christianity in a span of just 40 years with 92% of its population now Christian and Hindu dharma reduced to less than 6%.

Tirap, the district next door also has now an absolute Christian majority with 57% Christian population. This is a district with comparatively heavy population and hence this Christian majority figure hangs heavy over the State.

Kra Daadi district at the centre of western Arunachal and higher Himalayas is 65% Christian majority. It is a great tragedy to have a Christian majority district that high up in the Himalayas in the very smack centre of Arunachal Pradesh.

Pakke Kessang is 51% Christian now and at the border with Assam it is now 51% Christian. In many of these districts, missionaries function by basing themselves in Assam and then inviting Arunachali folks for schooling and hospitals and then convert them.

Kurung Kumey district, carved out of Lower Subansiri district has Christians at 47% and thus the largest religious group in the district. At 47% they are virtual majority as the rest are divided between Hindu dharma, Donyi Polo and other religions.

Papum Pare, the district containing the capital Itanagar is heavily Christianized and it is from here that Christian evangelization in central Arunachal is spreading fast. It is now 47% Christian and with the Arunachal pace of conversions must already be 50% as we speak.

East Kameng, in the pristine river valley of west Arunachal has now Christians as the largest group at 47% and near majority with the rest divided in many smaller groups.

Shi Yomi is perhaps the greatest tragedy in the sorry story of Arunachal’s conversion. This district is at the border with Tibet, a purely Buddhist state, and smack in the centre of this pristine Himalayan region is a Christian majority district.

Lower Siang, hugging Assam has Christians as the largest group with Christians being 42% of the population. It is said that many Arunachal villages are converted at gun point overnight after fliers are thrown in the areas in night saying – convert to Christianity or flee.

Apart from this Lower Subansiri has around 40% Christian majority. Kamle is around that percentage of Christians too and thus have Christians as the largest groups. Many like Lepa Rada, Changlang, Dibag etc. have 20-25% Christians and it is going rapidly downhill.

As most of this data is 13 years old we can safely say that there are half of the Arunachal Pradesh’s districts are now absolute Christian majority.

The most painful part is that Arunachal is the greatest Himalayan state that is left to us on the eastern fringes of Himalayas and this part of the Himalayas and Tibetan plateau had never seen Prophetic Monotheism/ Abrahamism before. It is a first for the region.

Speaking in geo-political terms, it is the most critical state to India’s security concerns in the north-east as it creates our border with China and Burma on almost three long sides of the north-eastern rim of India. Losing it to Christianity will be a major security threat.

When Nagaland and Mizoram were converted to Christianity, it was very easy for world international organizations to use the network of missionaries to smuggle arms, drugs and counterfeit money into India through the ‘religious brotherhood’ based on Christianity.

If Arunachal is completely converted to Christianity, we will have lost entire eastern Himalayas to Christianity in independent India right under our noses. And this sin, is very squarely on our inability to see the enemy for what they are and stop them.

It is a lack of Śatrubodha which prevents us from seeing the tragedy of Arunachal Pradesh. We fail to see that no matter how many army units we put up there once it is converted to Christianity, the area is irretrievably (for near future) lost to India and Hindu civilization.

Arunachal, or NEFA earlier, forms easternmost defense from hills which are very difficult to penetrate. It is very sparsely populated and yet sits over many resources. The barrenness of Tibetan plateau ends here into the lush green abundance of Himalayas.

The western rim of Himalayas is lost to Islam in Kashmir and Pamir… but after that there is a belt of pristine Himalayas – both in nature and culture with the states of Himachal, Uttarakhand, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan & Arunachal. It is this belt which is under attack.

While western rim is taken mostly Islam, eastern rim of Himalayas is being taken over by Christianity and if that conquest is complete it will be a tragedy of epic proportions as Himalayas, our protectors, will turn Christian and thus the enemy of Sanātana dharma.

Conversions in Arunachal started apace after it became a state, and we just kept watching under hateful neglect of the secular New Delhi and most of us didn’t even care. We didn’t think in ‘religious terms’ while the Church though only in those terms.

Even now it is increasing at a rapid pace and in our lifetimes it will become 100% Christian if the current trends are not arrested. One of our largest hill states and the crown of eastern Himalayas, the land where the dawn breaks will become heart-breakingly Christian.

Not all trends are bad. Hindu organizations and individuals are helping Arunachali tribes like Nyishi, Mishmi etc. to rediscover their traditional religion and spirituality by helping the Donyi Polo pagan religion, in many western and central Arunachali districts.

In Tirap, Rangfrah movement is picking up speed which seeks to dissociate from Christianity and attaches to Hindu dharma, while maintaining its own identity and culture. We, the Hindus of the rest of India have to help these movements become successful.

Many of its tribes are openly also becoming more and more Hindu, especially in eastern Arunachal, and are remembering the Ramayana and Mahabharata legends which exist in those parts. This part is considered the place of Rukmini.

And this connection with the Hindu epics keeps them Hindu and thus we need to work on that so that it is not severed. We need to ensure it is strengthened and we need to take care that their desīya cultures are preserved and yet Hindu dharma has a sway.

Most importantly, we need to make sure, the Church and its influence is rolled back and our Hindu sects reclaim those people lost to the alien, anti-diverse, anti-ecological Christian movement of the north east.
