Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin says only Hindu values can establish world peace: WHC 2023

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin emphasized the significance of Hindu values in fostering global peace, suggesting that amidst worldwide turmoil, embracing the principles of non-violence, truth, tolerance, and harmony from Hindu Dharma can pave the way for a lasting tranquillity. The Third World Hindu Congress inaugurated to establish the progressive and talented identity of Hindus worldwide, commenced with the participation of influential figures. Although Prime Minister Thavisin couldn’t attend the inaugural session, his message highlighted Thailand’s honour in hosting an event aligned with Hindutva’s principles and values.

The Vedas, integral to Hindu philosophy, advocate synthesis and balance as critical principles for peaceful coexistence, forming the foundation of the concept of shanti (peace). In a message for the three-day Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin praised Hindu values such as non-violence, truth, tolerance, and harmony. He believed these principles could play a pivotal role in establishing world peace.

Prime Minister Thavisin conveyed Thailand’s pride in hosting the Congress in his message, underscoring the event’s foundation on the principles and values of Hindu Dharma. He emphasized the crucial role of these principles, particularly in a world facing upheaval.

The World Hindu Congress brought together over 2200 delegates from 61 countries, recognizing their outstanding achievements in education, economy, academics, research and development, media, and politics. Among the attendees were MPs and ministers from approximately 25 countries. Thailand, home to around 10 lakh Bharatiya community members, acknowledged their noteworthy contributions to the country’s trade and economic development.

As the conference progressed, the resonance of Prime Minister Thavisin’s message advocating Hindu values for world peace echoed through the discussions and interactions among the diverse gathering of delegates. The commitment to dialogue and collaboration demonstrated during the Congress is a testament to the potential of shared values in fostering global harmony and understanding.

It must be pointed out that recently External Affairs Minister (EAM) Jaishankar highlighted strengthening the defence and security relationship between Bharat and Thailand since 2014. Addressing the Bharatiya diaspora, he noted the evolution of bilateral ties, emphasizing the significant changes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014. Jaishankar underscored Bharat’s engagement with ASEAN countries, portraying the relationship as a historical connection marked by reform and change over the last 25 years.
