Telangana: Executive Officer uses temple pond as swimming pool during Shivratri ritual

An Executive Officer of a temple in Telangana used the temple pond as a swimming pool during swami’s abhisheka. The video of him swimming in the pond even as the pujaris were holding the murti for the ritual has gone viral on social media.

A few days ago the video of a person swimming in a temple pond went viral on social media. Those who shared the video said that it was the Executive Officer(EO) of a temple in Telangana and he used the temple pond as a swimming pool disregarding the sanctity while a ritual was underway. As per a Hans India report the incident happened in the Neelakanteshwara temple, also known as Dakshina Kashi, located in Nizamabad, Telangana.

The video shows EO Venu swimming in the temple pond while the monthly Shivaratri ritual of the deity was in progress. Despite the warnings from the pujaris present, EO Venu disregarded their pleas to refrain from using the sacred pond during the ongoing ritual. Disheartened devotees recorded the incident and shared it widely on social media platforms, expressing their deep concern over the lack of respect shown by the temple’s executive officer.

The video caught the attention of Hindu organizations, who were quick to condemn EO Venu’s actions. Outraged by the blatant disregard for the sanctity of the temple and the ongoing ritual, they staged a protest and demanded appropriate action against the executive officer. It is worth noting that EO Venu is responsible for overseeing the operations of four temples in the vicinity.

Recently, a Muslim forest ranger destroyed a sacred dwajasthamba installed by vanvasis in Telangana. Vanvasis had taken prior permission to cut a tree to make dwajasthamba for the Gangamma temple. Despite that on the day of installation forest officials headed by ranger Abdul Rahman reached the temple, cut down the holy Dhwaja Stambha and chopped it into pieces, ignoring the pleas of locals.

Allegations made by the locals suggest that Ranger Abdul Rahman, formerly known as Bhaskar Goud, had recently converted to Islam, and he deliberately acted in a rash manner due to his religious affiliation.
