Sanatana Tamizhar Sangamam 2023: Exploring the essence of Sanatana Dharma

Sanatana Dharma is probably the most commonly spoken phrase, especially among Tamilian politicians today. Although it has been flogged like a dead horse by local politicians for a few claps and to get some votes, the attention to Sanatana Dharma came after a reasonably unadvertised event that would have gone unnoticed was brought into the limelight. Thanks to some social media users, the speech made by DMK minister and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, on eradicating Sanatana Dharma went viral and received flak from all corners of society – be it from their own alliance members or the public at large.

Continuing with the trend, the YouTube channel Pesu Tamizha Pesu is organising a conclave on Sanatana Tamizhar Sangamam 2023, and the topic of discussion for this year’s event will be “Why Do I Support Sanatana Dharma?”.

The event is scheduled to take place at Chettinad Vidyashram at MRC Nagar, Chennai, on the 17th of September 2023 from 8.44 AM. The lineup of speakers is impressive; it includes people from the spiritual arena as well as from the political space.

Some of the spiritual speakers include Srilasri Mahalinga Pandaara Sannidhi Suryanar Kovil Aadheenam and upanyasaka Shri Dushyanth Sridhar. Members of the TN BJP unit include Professor Rama Sreenivasan, Amar Prasad Reddy, Asuvathaman, Dr Raajkumar, and Daisy.

Some other speakers who openly profess their allegiance to Sanatana Dharma include members of the Kollywood fraternity, such as Director Perarasu, who is also a member of the BJP, and Stunt Choreographer and member of the Hindu Munnani in Tamil Nadu, Kanal Kannan.

The speaker lineup at the Sanatana Tamizhar Sangamam 2023 event also includes DA Joseph, a Hindu philosophy scholar.

Other important speakers include Shri Thangaraj, Shri Arjun Sampath of the Indhu Makkal Katchi, Shri Thirumaran, Shri Tada Periyasamy, Smt Fatima Ali and Shri Nachiappan.

The event is an attempt to spread positivity and create awareness among the public, which seems to be confused about what Sanatana Dharma is. Shri Dushyanth Sridhar posted on social media platform X about his participation in the event and said, “We must always strive to unite the society and nation at large.”
