KGMU conversion and exploitation racket: STF exposes network targeting of Hindu women, sexual blackmail, and institutional cover-up: Lucknow, UP

A disturbing investigation by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has brought to light a series of grave allegations involving sexual exploitation, coercive religious conversion, intimidation, and the targeting of Hindu female students and employees at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), one of Bharat’s prominent medical institutions. As per the Organiser reports, the STF inquiry, dated October 25, 2026, has described what it states was a wider network operating across university departments, involving medical students, resident doctors, and certain faculty members. Following the report, the Yogi Adityanath government directed KGMU on October 30 to initiate strict departmental proceedings against personnel involved and submit an action-taken report.

From campus relationships to Islamic religious coercion

The investigation reportedly gathered momentum following complaints by Dr. Devarti Mitra, a junior resident doctor, and Maviya, a nursing staff member. Two separate cases were registered in December 2025 at Chowk and Kaiserbagh police stations against resident doctors Dr. Rameezuddin (Rameez) Malik and Mohd Adil under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Dr. Rameezuddin was arrested in January 2026 and was also reportedly found guilty by the university’s internal Vishakha Committee.

According to the STF report, Rameezuddin established a relationship with Dr. Devarti Mitra, subsequently subjected her to mental and physical exploitation, and pressured her to convert to Islam and marry him through Nikah. The report further stated that Devarti later discovered that he had married another doctor, Dr. Mansi Saxena, in February 2025. Following the revelations and the distress caused by the situation, Devarti reportedly attempted suicide by consuming an excessive quantity of antidepressant medication. She subsequently lodged a police complaint. The inquiry also recorded allegations that other Hindu female doctors, including Dr. Kritika Pandey and Dr. Muskaan, had been targeted.

Pathology department senior faculty accused of protecting the main accused

The investigation went beyond the conduct of individual doctors and raised serious questions about the response of senior university officials. The STF report named Pathology Department Head Suresh Babu and Additional Professor Sumaiya Qaiyum, pointing out that they shielded Rameezuddin and attempted to undermine complaints raised by female employees.

According to the report, Suresh Babu declared Rameezuddin innocent, described Dr. Devarti as mentally unstable, and pressured her family to reach a compromise. The inquiry also shows that women who protested against inappropriate conduct faced threats to their professional futures, including warnings that they could be declared mentally unfit or removed from service.

Religious discrimination and harassment of Hindu doctors

The STF inquiry also recorded allegations of discriminatory treatment by Additional Professor Sumaiya Qaiyum in the handling of leave requests and departmental responsibilities. The report contrasted the accommodation of certain Muslim resident doctors with the difficulties reportedly faced by Hindu colleagues.

One incident concerned Dr. Harshit Jain, who faced harassment after requesting leave for Chhath Puja and his grandfather’s last rites. The inquiry attributed a derogatory remark concerning his grandfather’s funeral to Qaiyum. It also states that Dr Devarti’s complaint was dismissed as a minor incident and that doctors who supported her were discouraged and threatened.

Prayer facilities inside llaboratories

Another faculty member named in the report was Dr. Wahid Ali, who was in charge of the Biochemistry Laboratory within the Pathology Department. The inquiry states that separate seating and prayer arrangements were provided for Muslim students inside the laboratory, particularly in an HPLC facility, where students reportedly gathered for prayers and meetings.

The report also accused Wahid Ali of discriminating against Hindu resident doctors, assigning additional duties to Dr. Harshit Jain and providing negative feedback. It further states that he supported Rameezuddin during the controversy involving Dr. Devarti.

Gandhi Ward: more women come forward with allegations of conversion

The investigation also examined three incidents involving nursing staff and resident doctors in Gandhi Ward. According to the STF report, nursing employee Nafees exploited a colleague, Jyoti Singh, and pressured her into religious conversion before marrying her through Nikah. In another case, nursing employee Furkan was accused of exploiting Jagriti Gupta and pressuring her to convert and marry him.

A third allegation involved resident doctor Mohd Adil, who was accused of establishing relationships with nursing staff members Maviya and Meenakshi Pandey under the pretext of marriage and subsequently sexually exploiting them. Maviya had filed a police complaint at Kaiserbagh police station, while Meenakshi reportedly raised an oral complaint.

Hindu employee targeted and terminated

The Microbiology Department also came under scrutiny. The report described the case of Jyoti Rao, a 25-year-old Hindu computer operator, who also faced stalking, harassment, and pressure to convert to Islam from a university employee identified as Islamist Shafaat Ali Khan.

According to the inquiry, Jyoti Rao submitted oral and written complaints to the department head, but her grievances were allegedly ignored. Instead, the report claimed that she faced retaliatory action and was terminated from her position. She reportedly suffered depression following the incident.

Radiology department: female doctors threatened with career destruction

The STF also recorded allegations involving a resident doctor identified as Rizwan in the Radiology Department. According to the inquiry, he pressured female resident doctors Dr. Avanjala Singh and Dr. Ishita to convert to Islam and subjected them to blackmail. When the women reportedly raised objections, their complaints were allegedly suppressed, and they were threatened with consequences for their examinations and medical careers.

‘Islamic Medicos’: STF examines network across KGMU and SNMC Agra

One of the most consequential aspects of the inquiry concerned an organized association of medical students and doctors connected with KGMU Lucknow and Sarojini Naidu Medical College (SNMC), Agra. The report referred to a group described as ‘Islamic Medicos’ and identified several doctors and students from the 2021 and 2022 batches, including Rameezuddin, Rizwan Malik, Adnan Ansari, and Sam Anees.

The inquiry states that members of this circle maintained relationships with Hindu female resident doctors and attempted to influence them through personal relationships and religious conversion pressure. It also referred to a publication titled Islamic Medicos, reportedly associated with SNMC Agra, which contained details of Muslim medical students from earlier batches. The report states that newly admitted students were introduced to the group and that certain individuals facilitated connections with Hindu female students and doctors.

Among the most disturbing claims was an allegation concerning Sam Anees, whom Rameezuddin reportedly introduced to Dr Devarti. The report recorded a statement that Anees had raped 19 Hindu women. This is an exceptionally serious, alarming issue and must be seriously investigated.

The inquiry also named several other individuals associated with the group, including Mohd Kaif, Mohd Ehsaan, Aman Malik, Shadan Shameem, Mohd Ayaan, Mohd Zaheer, Mohd Aman, and Shabir Khan.

Administrative nexus, large-scale jihadi network

The STF investigation also examined whether administrative connections within KGMU had enabled complaints and conversion-related activities to remain unaddressed over an extended period. The report referred to incidents dating back to 2006–2012, during the tenure of former Medicine Department Head Dr Abbas Ali Mehdi.

It also named former university clerk S.A. Abbas, who reportedly continued working with Dr. Mehdi after retirement as his personal secretary. The inquiry points out that Abbas influenced the selection of committee members examining complaints involving religious conversion and other disputes within the university. It further raised questions about financial connections between certain doctors associated with KGMU and Era Medical College, owned by Dr. Mehdi.

Faculty members and promotion of radical ideology

The inquiry also mentioned Professor Usman Kausar of the Medicine Department, his brother-in-law Dr. Haider Abbas, and other faculty members, including Assistant Professors Dr. Ahmad and Dr. Kaleem of the Biochemistry Department. It alleged that certain individuals exercised influence over groups of Muslim students and intervened in disputes involving them.

The report further referred to Dr Naseem Khan, formerly associated with KGMU and subsequently with Integral University, Lucknow. It was noted that he promoted the ideology of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik among students. The inquiry also raised questions about a separate prayer facility established on the second floor of the KGMU gym in 2013. According to the report, the facility was used for religious gatherings and speeches despite an existing mosque on the university campus.

Conversion incentives and digital evidence: ₹15 lakh claim

Perhaps among the most serious claims in the STF report was the existence of a wider conversion network offering financial incentives for religious conversions. The inquiry referred to an reward of ₹15 lakh for converting medical professionals, including doctors, and ₹5 lakh for converting other individuals to Islam.

The report also states that Rameezuddin had been associated with Dr. Shaheen Saeed, who was apprehended in connection with the 2025 Delhi Red Fort blast investigation. According to the inquiry, the two had met at a medical conference and Rameezuddin had subsequently come under her ideological influence. The report further claimed that information recovered from his electronic devices showed contact with several Hindu women and that photographs of approximately 50 women were recovered.

Yogi Adithyanath government orders action

Following the submission of the STF report on October 25, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, directed the KGMU Registrar on October 30 to initiate strict departmental proceedings against university personnel found involved in the serious misconduct. The administration was also instructed to examine the findings and submit an action-taken report to the state government.

A medical university must be a place of education, not a place for radical Islamic conversion, coercion sexual exploitation, intimidation or abuse of institutional authority. If the allegations documented by the STF are substantiated, every individual involved, regardless of position or influence, must face the full consequences of the law. The radicalist jihadis deserve strict punishment and KGMU must answer for any institutional failure that allowed such misconduct to continue.
