Ramayana Kalpavriksham is a unique festival that celebrates the timeless wisdom, devotion, and artistic grandeur of the Ramayana through music, dance, discourse, and workshops. Curated by Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, this three-day event brings together scholars, artists, and enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the cultural and spiritual essence of Shri Ram’s journey.

With an illustrious lineup of speakers, performers, and hands-on experiences, the festival bridges ancient traditions and contemporary audiences. Organized in collaboration with Shankarananda Kalakshetra and Natyarambha, it is a vibrant effort to revive and sustain the oral and artistic traditions of Bharat. Ramayana Kalpavriksham is not just a festival—it is an opportunity to reconnect with our Dharmic roots and ensure that the cultural legacy of Bharat thrives for generations to come.
Reviving the cultural tapestry of Bharat
Dharma manifests itself as tradition, taking tangible form through customs and rituals. These traditions shape culture, which communicates its wisdom through symbols, art, and literature. The timeless stories of Bharatiya Itihasas and Granthas encapsulate immense cultural knowledge, passed down through concise tales, anecdotes, and aphorisms.
In the past, these stories were brought to life by kathavachakas, wandering bards, and mendicants who shared the wisdom of the Vedas and other Granthas across Bharatavarsha. Families became custodians of this knowledge, transmitting it orally through generations in the intimate setting of a home. However, the advent of modernity has disrupted this process. The emphasis on written knowledge, combined with lifestyle changes, has led to the decline of oral storytelling traditions.
Reviving the Art of Storytelling
Recognizing this gap, Bṛhat aims to bridge the divide by reviving the art of cultural storytelling in ways that resonate with contemporary audiences. Through various media formats, Bṛhat seeks to preserve and share the redemptive power of storytelling, fostering a deeper connection with the cultural wisdom of Bharat.
