Yet again Pakistan is in the news – and once again for the wrong reasons – forced conversions of minority Hindus. The recent stories of Chandni Sharma, Indra Deewan, and Rina Oad expose a deeply troubling trend.
The first case of Chandni Sharma, a minor Hindu girl from Matli, Badin District, Sindh, found herself at the centre of a nightmarish ordeal. Abducted and forcibly converted to Islam, Chandni was subsequently married off to her abductor, Shahbaz Ali Samo.
In Tando Jam, Sindh, another harrowing incident unfolded as Indra Deewan, the daughter of Giyan Mal, became a victim of abduction and forced conversion. Sajid Hussain, the perpetrator, compelled Indra to convert to Islam against her will.
The haunting case of Rina Oad in Ghotki, Sindh, adds another layer of horror to the state of minority Hindus in Pakistan. A minor Hindu girl, Rina, was coerced into converting to Islam, assuming the name Amina. The disturbing video footage captures the palpable fear and intimidation she experienced while reciting the Kalma. Rina’s ordeal reveals the psychological trauma inflicted upon victims of forced conversions.
Every single day, Pakistan continues to convert our Hindu sisters in their land reducing their numbers by the day. Nations around the world cry foul when it comes to “minority rights” only when they are from a particular group. Minority Hindus are not considered minority by their standards. When will this end, when will our sisters be free of all this torture and abuse? Hindus in Bharat need to speak up more and more till it reaches the gatekeepers of human rights who are selectively blind it seems.
Excellent work. This kind of documentation is necessary to advance our cause with policy makers. Kudos to you!
