In a recent incident that happened at the Sri Sri Sri Tayamma Temple in Shilpa Sowbhagya Nagar in Adoni, Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, a video recording capturing a dispute between a temple pujari and a visitor has garnered attention.
The video, which surfaced a few days ago, depicts a heated exchange between the unidentified visitor and the temple pujari while he was performing an Abhisheka to the deity.
What Happened?
The visitor, later identified as Yunus, was seen expressing his frustration about the playing of bhajans within the temple premises, which he claimed had been disturbing him. He claimed to have tried to reach out to the pujari on multiple occasions. The initial video did not clarify the person behind the camera.
The confrontation escalated as the pujari emerged from the garba griha to address Yunus’s grievances. The pujari urged Yunus not to agitate him, to which Yunus responded that it was, in fact, the bhajans at the temple that was causing annoyance.
The situation further deteriorated as Yunus retorted, prompting the pujari to call people to support him. Subsequently, a follow-up video emerged featuring the pujari who explains the incident in detail.
Apology to Pujari Over Bhajans
The pujari revealed that Yunus had lodged a complaint with the police once the initial video went viral. A meeting at the local police station ensued, attended by senior representatives of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal. In this meeting, Yunus apologised for his behavior, attributing his agitation to concerns for his sick child.
The temple pujari conveyed that the matter had been amicably resolved, with Yunus extending forgiveness and requesting the same from others. This whole incident seems ironic especially as Yunus seems to have an objection to the temple’s bhajans while he has an apparent tolerance for the Azaan that happens through loudspeakers on a daily basis.
While there have been many instances of Christian conversions and the alleged crypto connections of the present Chairman of the TTD, instances of vandalising Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh or harming Hindus are not new. Fortunately for the pujari, the members of VHP and BD were able to support him in a timely manner.
