Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 28 September to 04 October 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) What began as a small local dispute in Kanpur has rapidly spiralled into violent protests across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and other states. Radical Islamist groups used the slogan ‘I Love Muhammad‘ to rally Islamist mobs, leading to stone-pelting, rioting, and open threats against law-enforcement officers. Instead of peaceful expression, processions in several towns turned into platforms for extremist sloganeering, including the barbaric Sar Tan Se Juda chant that has historically accompanied beheading threats against kafirs by the Islamic elements.
2) In a decisive action against illegal religious conversions, the Nigohan police in Lucknow have arrested a man, Malkhan, now known as Matthew, who allegedly led a systematic operation converting over 50 Hindus in Baktauri Kheda village over the past two years. The accused reportedly targeted vulnerable Scheduled Caste families, luring them under the guise of miraculous healing and financial incentives to renounce their ancestral faith, Hindu dharma, and embrace Christianity.
3) Indian judiciary has repeatedly betrayed Kashmiri Hindus and even refused to entertain a plea seeking benefits for the community while opening its doors at midnight for Muslim terrorists.
4) Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU), located in the heart of Bharat’s capital, has once again made headlines for the wrong reasons. A Durga Puja vigraha immersion procession led by ABVP students was violently disrupted near Sabarmati T-Point. Stones and wooden blocks were allegedly hurled by members of AISA, SFI, and DSF. Even women participants were attacked.
5) A few days ago, a video of a group of people from the Aintham Tamilar Sangam burning an effigy of Sri Rama went viral on social media. Tiruchirappalli District Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the incident.
6) An incident of love jihad has been reported from Amjhera, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, involving a case of sexual assault and forced religious conversion of a Hindu woman. According to news reports, Aamir Sheikh, a resident of Deoband, Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), presented himself as ‘Anil’ to develop a relationship with the woman from Amjhera. He befriended her and proposed marriage. He later lured her away, sexually assaulted her, and pressured her to convert to Islam, threatening her with violence when she refused.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) The hill district of Khagrachhari descended into chaos as protests over a teenage girl’s alleged rape escalated into deadly violence. Uyafre Marma, President of the Marma Students’ Council, told BBC Bangla that homes and shops in Ramsu Market were burned and many people were injured. He blamed ‘Muslims’ for the attacks.
2) Bipul Mitra, headmaster of Patashi Union Secondary School, was beaten with hammers and iron rods by a group of assailants who targeted and fractured both of his legs. Local sources say that, before the attack, local BNP leader Kamruzzaman Khan had phoned Mitra and issued obscene threats.
World
1) Across the United States, especially following the installation of the monumental Hanuman murti in Sugar Land, Texas, clear evidence of Hinduphobia has emerged in public discourse, social media, and organized protests.
2) At a reception in New York, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami deputy amir, Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher, made a claim that has unsettled many. Standing before supporters, he declared that “at least five million of our young men will wage an independence war against India.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
