The Dharmasthala allegations case has taken a dramatic turn. As per Public TV reports, the very individuals who triggered the controversy, including activist Girish Mattennavar, have now approached the High Court seeking to quash the FIR that was registered based on their own statements. This unprecedented move has raised sharp questions about the intent behind the accusations and the whole episode was part of a premeditated and politically motivated conspiracy.
The petitioners, Timarodi, Jayanth, Girish Mattennavar, and Vithal Gowda, were among the primary figures who led the public campaign accusing Dharmasthala of graves, disappearances, and abuse, claims that are now part of a coordinated conspiracy.
It was on the basis of these allegations and representations that the government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the claims. The SIT subsequently examined multiple witnesses, collected evidence, and recorded 164 CrPC statements, while also interrogating the complainants themselves for over 100 hours. However, as the investigation progressed, the SIT reportedly uncovered material suggesting the fabrication of evidence and the intentional circulation of false claims, with a larger objective of defamation.
Following this, the SIT added additional charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 336 (creation of fake documents), 230 & 229 (deliberate creation of false evidence), 227 (wilful false statements), 248 (false criminal prosecution), and offenses relating to the fraudulent use of electronic records. These additions significantly strengthened the criminal liability of those involved in generating and propagating the allegations. Soon after these sections were added, the principal complainant, Chinnayya, was arrested, intensifying pressure on the others in the group.
On October 24, the SIT issued notices summoning the remaining members of the group for further questioning. Fearing arrest and legal consequences, the accused individuals have now approached the High Court seeking to quash the FIR entirely, arguing that they were being targeted despite no direct accusations against them in recorded statements. Their petition states that despite extended questioning, the SIT continued to issue notices, which they claim indicates a possibility of impending arrest.
The case traces back to what initially began as a series of anonymous online videos involving a masked man, followed by the emergence of what became popularly known as the Skull/Burude Gang, who publicly insisted that they possessed proof of mass burials in Dharmasthala. Their campaign prompted widespread media attention and demands for legal action. However, as the SIT began verifying claims, contradictions reportedly surfaced regarding testimonies, locations, and documentation, leading to suspicion of an orchestrated, politically influenced smear campaign.
The sudden move to stop the investigation has raised serious questions about the intent behind the allegations. Legal experts note that individuals who seek justice do not attempt to halt investigations, especially ones they themselves demanded. The reversal is being viewed as a direct consequence of the investigation closing in on the complainants rather than supporting their claims.
The High Court will hear the plea in the coming days. Meanwhile, SIT sources maintain that the investigation will continue to follow the evidence trail wherever it leads. The developments mark a significant turning point in what had initially been projected as a large-scale human rights exposure but is now under serious scrutiny as a malicious fabrication effort that may lead to prosecution of the complainants themselves.
HinduPost exposed how the so-called mass-burial saga at Dharmasthala was a fully fabricated plot, orchestrated with AI-generated videos, false testimonies, and political backing. It detailed how left-leaning and Congress-aligned elements pushed the narrative, leveraged a hastily formed SIT under pressure rather than evidence, and targeted a revered Hindu temple to undermine the faith and identity of Hindu society. Ultimately, the Dharmasthala conspiracy has completely backfired. The very group that shouted about justice is now fleeing from the investigation they demanded. Truth does not panic; only lies run for cover.
