In Tamil Nadu, Congress put up ‘secular Ganesh pandals’ reportedly to compete with Hindu organisations. The district committee which organised it said that Christians and Muslims will take part in the celebrations and processions to protect religious harmony.
The Dindigul District Congress committee planned to put up ,Ganesh pandals at 57 locations across the district. These ‘secular pandals’ are to “promote religious harmony”, the committee head said. He further said that leaders and followers of Christianity and Islam will be invited to take part in the puja and processions and only Gandhi’s ‘secular song’ Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram will be sung during the processions.
He assured that bursting crackers, raising religious slogans or playing religious songs will not be done during the procession. It appears that after their attempts at hijacking Pongal and Tamil New Year as secular festivals, abrahamics are trying to appropriate Ganesh Chaturthi as well. The festival is celebrated with much pomp despite the state’s best attempts to curb and limit pandals. Liberals and anti-Hindus appear to fear that Hindu organisations putting up more pandals year after year will work in BJP’s favour.
The state continues to impose ridiculous rules and restrictions to limit the number of pandals citing law and order issues. The judiciary aids the state by defining certain areas as ‘Muslim areas’ and orders Hindus to get NOC from local jamaat to put up pandals. The district administration of Tenkasi had imposed section 144 from August 19 to September 2 on the pretext of Covid-19 spread while only 2 were infected with the virus. Hindu organisations opposed it saying it appears to be a blatant attempt to curb Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
District administration restricted it to certain areas and the festival was celebrated with pomp and MoS L Murugan participated in the procession in Tenkasi town. It is a religiously charged area as Muslims surround the Kashi Vishwanathar temple and try to block temple processions often. In Coimbatore, another place where Hindu- Muslim relationship is strained due to the 1996 bomb blasts, a Hindu residential colony was denied permission to put up Ganesh pandal.
Police denied permission saying that it will create law and order problems as Muslims live around the colony in majority. Ridiculously, when Hindus went to court against the decision the Madras High Court ruled that Hindus should get consent from the local jamaat to put up the pandal. Even though Hindu rights are suppressed and cornered by every part of the establishment, the likes of Congress feel threatened and want to secularise and gradually destroy every Hindu festival.
It won’t be a surprise if Ganesh pandals are used to peddle liberal and woke propaganda like Durga pandals in West Bengal. In fact the next step of Congress would be to play azaan in Ganesh pandals like in this Durga pandal in Kolkata. Hindu tolerance and degeneracy in believing that Hindu Dharma is a liberal religion helps liberals and other anti-Hindus in destroying dharma brick by brick.
